Australian Human Rights Commission / 2025

Creating illustrations to represent a diverse range of voices.

The Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) investigates complaints about discrimination and human rights breaches. As an independent third party, they advocate to government and others for human rights and look to promote and raise awareness of human rights in Australia through education and training, events and discussion, digital resources, and media outreach.

AHRC engaged Weekday in the lead up to their Speaking from Experience report. Our team created a style guide for the wider campaign to assist the AHRC’s in-house designer, with the goal of the style guide being applied across all resource materials. The style guide includes illustrations, colour palettes, typography, patterns, and shapes.

When it came to illustrations, the Weekday team crafted a simple suite of illustrations that represented the many voices included in the AHRC’s research. The illustrations needed to represent diversity while also being easy to apply across many resources that will stem from the core report.

Once the style guide and illustrated elements were established, we also supported the AHRC in creating posters and profile snapshots to support their team.
